Board Members Visit 2025

Zeb teaches about berms and swales

From May 26 - June 9th board members Kevin Jones and Zeb Williamson will team up with local Malawian board members Gloria, Patrick and Michael along with Chief Executive Chisomo Mainje. It’s always a great privilege to meet up in person, review progress and plan for the future and we look for God’s grace in all this.

This year’s visit will include the purchase of tools and materials for effective pile composting and the next seed bank at our fourth project in Aaron, We have the signing of the water system contract with Kapitapa Drilling and our inauguration visit to Aaron on June 3rd. Site visits to Ndalama and Kawiri are planned to monitor their development with a further investment in the seed bank at Kawiri to the tune of 10,000 seeds.

Chisomo, Zeb and Kevin will be holding meetings with Dominic our Lead Farmer and Zeb will be carrying out training with Farm Facilitators John and Liness. Kawaza is in our sights for a 5th project and further exploration will take place to establish future sites for 2026/27.

The visit will conclude with a Malawian board meeting to galvanize our thoughts and consider our best plan for moving forward. Each project has been a joy with communities showing signs of real development and personal progress in what remains an environmentaly hostile climate. Three cheers for nature based solutions!

Banana Trees

300 Banana Trees

In March 2025 we were delighted to receive 300 banana suckers from the District Agriculture Office. This is sponsored by the World Food Program and it is wonderful to get this support and recognition from the local authority.

Bananas are high in carbohydrates, rich in potassium, vitamin C, dietary fibre and B6. They produce fruit all year round which contributes greatly to local food security . From an environmental stance, they improve soil quality, reduce soil erosion and create natural windbreaks.

Such unsolicited contributions go a long way to inspiring the Compact team and the villages we serve to keep on working.
