What Compact strives to accomplish in what seems a remote part of the world is a fundamental model of good stewarship. Ecology is critical for global stability and underpins the delicate systems that sustain life, regulate climate, secure food and water, and ultimately shapes the social and economic resilience of nations.
An article published on the BBC website, February 9th 2026, by Helen Briggs and Gwyndaf Gughes included the following:
“Businesses risk extinction themselves unless they protect and restore the natural world, scientists across the globe are warning. Prof Stephen Polasky, said the loss of biodiversity is among the most serious threats to business, “yet the twisted reality is that it often seems more profitable to businesses to degrade biodiversity than to protect it”. Businesses can either lead the way or “ultimately risk extinction… both of species in nature, but potentially also their own”, said co-author Matt Jones, from the UN World Conservation Monitoring Centre in Cambridge.”
Together we are playing a small but vital part in a global scenerio.
