As part of our professional development, Compact's Executive Director, Chisomo Mainje, has completed a Conservation Careers course in Conservation Project Management. This is a transformative step in improving Compact's work across rural Malawi. The course provided practical tools in five key areas: planning, implementation, monitoring, adaptation, and communication—each essential for turning good intentions into measurable impact.
The training emphasized accountability and evidence-based results, prompting a shift from activity-focused reporting to outcome-driven monitoring. Tools like logical frameworks and problem tree analysis now guide community-led planning, enhancing relevance and local ownership. These strategies are important with Malawi's unpredictable climate which require structure and flexibility. Most significantly, Compact now prioritizes learning from field data and transparently sharing both successes and challenges—key factors in building donor trust and strengthening community relationships.
Equipping community facilitators with these skills transform them into empowered conservation professionals, capable of analyzing, adapting, and leading to local sourced solutions. We are grateful for Chisomo's participation and look to find further programs to further our effectiveness.
Genesis 2:15
The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.
